Mike Geno Studio
Mike Geno is a Philadelphia-based artist who creates, among other food subjects, still-life paintings of cheese which he calls “cheese portraits”. Through his creative connection with cheesemakers and cheesemongers, Mike has been building an archive which visually honors artisan food producers, and acts as an homage to their art. By painting cheese and other foods, and tapping into their strong feelings about the foods they relate to, Mike helps connect his audience to a greater community.
Mike has exhibited nationally and internationally, and has been featured in newspapers and magazines around the world including the NYT, Culture Magazine, Cheese Connoisseur, Vice Magazine, Food Network Magazine, Cooking Lite, The Globe and Mail (Canada), Esquire (Spain), and Hotellerie et Gastronomie Magazine (Switzerland), to name a few.
In 2018 and 2019, Mike will travel with Cheese Journeys as a resident artist, teaching cheese painting classes to guests of Cheddar Odyssey and select Alpine tours.
